Project Name: Midtown West Apartment 1, New York, NY
Area: 2,000 SF
The client’s vision for their apartment combination (3-into-1) was inspired by the vernacular architectural traditions of Indonesia. All elements were thus carefully sourced in Indonesia by PJCA. Wood flooring, doors, casing and millwork were fabricated in Java. Intricately hand-carved wood shutters and panels were crafted by Jepara artisans. Columns, architectural statuary, gates, and beams were recovered from demolished historic buildings in Bali. Glass and natural light unify the palette of warm woods and stone.
